The Doc has left the building
So it’s now widespread news that “The Doc” Roy Halladay has been traded by the Toronto Blue Jays as part of a three team deal. This move should come as no surprise to anyone who follows the Blue Jays at all, as Halladay would have been entering his final year under contract with the club. Halladay has already agreed to an extension with the Pillies worth roughtly $20 million per season over 3 years plus an option.
In return the Blue Jays did alright. They managed to get some quality prospects, 3 of the top 5 rated within the Phillies organization, and arms that will help them in the future. But with the Red Sox and Yankee’s perpetually bulking up for the season ahead, the Blue Jays are not clearly not interested in contending this season.
